While your child is coloring during your 4th of July celebration, tell him that the Statue of Liberty sits in the New York harbor. Immigrants were excited to catch a glimpse of her as they entered the United States.

At the bottom of the page, you will see the phrase “4th of July” in bubble-style letters for your child to color.

Other great presidents carved into the mountain include Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, and Theodore Roosevelt.

The bell was famously hidden from the Redcoats during the Revolutionary War. It was rehung at the end of the war.
Your child might also be interested to know that it wasn’t called the Liberty Bell until the 1830s. Abolitionists began using the bell as a symbol of freedom for the slaves, subsequently calling it the Liberty Bell.
Its famed crack has many origin stories, but most sources seem to agree the crack was present early on. It worsened with time, until it was finally retired from service in 1846.
Here your child will see some brave Revolutionary War soldiers with a flag waving behind them.
We enjoy unprecedented freedom today because soldiers like this were brave enough to stand up to the most powerful empire in the world at the time.
They were true heroes who could not have known that they would be successful or that America would grow into the country it is today.
